Gordon William Douglas

Savannah - Gordon William Douglas, age 77, died Friday, June 20, 2008 from a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Metter, Georgia to Juanita Hale and Wade L. Douglas in 1931. He graduated from Pulaski High School in Pulaski, GA in 1947. He was employed with GAF Roofing Materials from 1967 until he retired in 1996. Gordon owned the Bowler's Pro Shop located at the Victory Bowling Center. He enjoyed golfing and bowling throughout his life.

Mr. Douglas is survived his wife, Mary G. Bell, his two sons, Jacob Wayne Douglas and Gordon Lee Douglas; two brothers, James Douglas Betty, Paul Douglas Jeanette; five sisters, Margaret Lewis, Mildred Douglas, Shirley Lewis, Diane Brown, Linda McBride; four grandchildren, Amy Raft, Jeremy Douglas, Christina Pirstell, Brianna Stewart; four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation: 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, June 22, 2008 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel.

Funeral: 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 23, 2008 in the Islands Chapel of Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors.

Burial: Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

Remembrances: Humane Society Savannah-Chatham, 7215 Sallie Mood Dr., Savannah, GA 31406.

My words cannot express my feelings in the loss of Gordon. Having been a very close friend and fellow church member for so many years really make my sympathy run deep.
